Children’s Poet and Writer Michio Mado

Every Japanese kindergartner learns the song “Zo-san” (Elephant) by Michio Mado, a poet and writer of children’s songs. Sadly, he  died today at age 104.

Elizabeth Mitchell sang Zou-san on Smithsonian Folkways. Here is a youtube link.
